Volunteer Opportunities


The following MCHS volunteer positions are available.

   


Pinecrest Historical Village school tour guide:Help us educate Northeast Wisconsin's elementary and secondary students!  School tours are offered at Pinecrest Historical Village between May 1 and October 24.  MCHS school tour guides lead 90 minute discovery tours throughout the village, explaining the community, economy, and transportation of Manitowoc County of 100 years ago.  Guides are asked to wear period appropriate costume.  Typically, student groups range from 2nd grade to high school age and can be as large as 5 students to 75 students.  Large school groups are broken down to smaller groups of 10-12.   If you are interested in participating as an MCHS school tour guide please contact the Educational Programming Coordinator at 920/ 684-4445. back to the top

Pinecrest Historical Village gift shop clerk:Pinecrest Historical Village (PHV), an open air museum, is open from May 1 to October 24, from 9 am to 4 pm.  Along with over 25 historical buildings the museum also maintains a gift shop.  Operated with volunteer support, the gift shop is open from 9 am - 5 pm as well.  PHV gift shop volunteer shifts run from 9 am to 1 pm and from 1 pm to 5 pm.   Duties include greeting visitors, taking admissions, operating cash register, and periodically cleaning gift shop as well as watering flower garden.  If you are interested, please contact the Educational Programming Coordinator at 920/ 684-4445.   back to the top

Wedding host: Pinecrest Historical Village's Niles Church is available for weddings.  Volunteer wedding hosts assist in opening and closing the church for wedding rehearsals and ceremonies in addition to parking guests cars.  If you are interested, please contact the Educational Programming Coordinator at 920/ 684-4445.  back to the top

Artifact data entry clerk: We are computerizing our accession cards and we need help entering our collections' data into a computer database! MCHS is looking for volunteers who can donate just 2-4 hours of their time a week. Excellent typing skills, and a knowledge of Microsoft Access are useful.  If you are interested, please contact the Educational Programming Coordinator at 920/ 684-4445. back to the top

Heritage Center research librarian:The MCHS research library is located in the Heritage Center and is open Tuesday - Friday from 1 pm to 4 pm.  Research librarians assist patrons in general - genealogical research.   If you are interested, please contact the Educational Programming Coordinator at 920/ 684-4445. back to the top

Heritage Center gift shop clerk:The Heritage Center gift shop is open Tuesday - Friday from 9 am - 4 pm.  Duties include, taking admissions, answering the phone, general office work, and some assistance in volunteer coordination (making phone calls).  If you are interested, please contact the Educational Programming Coordinator at 920/ 684-4445. back to the top
